here’s a band we’ve got a special thing for here at GothRobot… somewhere in between 8-bit and Electrocore, The Habitat have got all the bedroom freshness you can have, coupled with total unpretentiousness and lots of wanting to have a good time… we’ve got a tasty double-whammy for ya:
XX (instrumental), a melody in motion, looking out the window of a train, travelling across a landscape of giant mauve pixels and overwhelmed by borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered 80s… a sweet mini-symphony of colour and bitcrush…
this is gonna fuck you, an ironic electro / drum & bass piece that works, could be the music to Bucky O’Hare full of interplanetary Life Force trying to conquer the Green Planet…
more to come soon! enjoy :]
this is pretty hilarious… from the unique, hyper-hot Cazwell, to you, I Seen Beyonce in Burger King, featuring Jonny Makeup is probably the best video of 2009 so far… camp, groovy, full of satisfying, electrifying irony… this filthy double-cheese whooper comes loaded with calories, fat, and a large splash of that spicy ghetto electro hip-hop sauce that’s really quite the thang at the mo… and with Cazwell talking about beef, well… i would definitely go large… ding dong!

last year the This Is Not A Rave! guys got together at Exit Bar in Brick Lane with the intention to put on a fine soiree on a Sunday night with some good music and nice movies on the projector… originally called “Our House“, the party grew into a wild bohemian gathering catering for lovers of a wide range of sounds from Deep House through to Electro and Techno and with the dancefloor always rockin’… This Is Not A Rave! went from strength to strength, moving to a permanent night at Aquarium, then at Redlight!
one of the brains behind the phenomenon is Tommi Tinar… his impeccable mixing of different styles in a single set, all beautifully worked together keeping it techy but kickin’ has got him a well respected name in the East London clubbing scene… we’ve been able to get hold of his latest mixtape, which is guaranteed to make you jump off the sofa, get your dancin’ shoes on and hit the (dance)floor! just the ticket for the perfect start of a great weekend!
enjoy!
