last year the This Is Not A Rave! guys got together at Exit Bar in Brick Lane with the intention to put on a fine soiree on a Sunday night with some good music and nice movies on the projector… originally called “Our House“, the party grew into a wild bohemian gathering catering for lovers of a wide range of sounds from Deep House through to Electro and Techno and with the dancefloor always rockin’… This Is Not A Rave! went from strength to strength, moving to a permanent night at Aquarium, then at Redlight!
one of the brains behind the phenomenon is Tommi Tinar… his impeccable mixing of different styles in a single set, all beautifully worked together keeping it techy but kickin’ has got him a well respected name in the East London clubbing scene… we’ve been able to get hold of his latest mixtape, which is guaranteed to make you jump off the sofa, get your dancin’ shoes on and hit the (dance)floor! just the ticket for the perfect start of a great weekend!
enjoy!

you’ll remember our first post on Kolt13 a couple of weeks ago… well, we are delighted that the wait has not been too long a wait for us to be able to enjoy his new track, Lesson One, a solid piece of electro sound, broken in bits, and sawn back together with a kickass melodic thread… not a lot more to say except that we absolutely love it and that we’re just totally addicted to everything Kolt13 produces coz it’s just so freekin’ good…
ah, and as a bonus ball, we’re also posting his remix of A Girl And A Gun’s Send More Cops, which won the best remix competition last month and which you can download exclusively here…
need a shove? not getting any touch? you think it means too much?
you not coming undone? you afraid of fun? well, come play with Synthia
and let them recharge your love battery to the max with their Love Energy! mixtape… it contains a variety of french electro-berries, and other super-fruity goodies, smoothy blended using plenty of FM modulation…
when it comes to talking about their own production work, rather than their DJ mixes, their name may be a bit of a giveaway, and it ain’t ironical, which means that it does just what it says on the tin, and you can expect synths galore… with an EP on Revolucion Records released last october and an album being released on their own label this spring, they’re likely to be one name you’re going to be hearing once and over again during 2009 and beyond… their approach to french-stylee 80s-inspired beats oozes simplicity, freshness and flawless sampling… Synthia don’t try to be anyone else… their tracks are packed with light, colour and funk-filled, sometimes mysteriously dark arps… they don’t sound just like everyone else, and that’s why we just absolutely love them…
here’s the tracklist for the Love Energy! mixtape:

we’ll be back with more Synthia for you real soon! in the meantime catch ‘em DJing live every saturday at Room Bar, Manchester…
we spotted this tattooed lil fella from São Paulo on myspace last week… he’s called LUFRKKK, he’s just started producing in a style that he defines as maximalist, blending electro, breakbeats and funkbeats into one hell of a potion…
we’re really loving his remix of Anthony Rother’s 4EVER… the beats are full, vibrant, alive, and there’s more to it all than just overwhelmingly boring thumps… it’s a bit like country vegetable soup with extra chunks of veg, or a spicy italian with extra pepperoni, supersized and with extra potato wedges…
there’s a few more pieces of his work on his ’space, but coz we don’t like you feeling unsatisfied, we’ve got you a whoppa of a second dish course, i.e. a tasty rework of Afrika Bambaataa’s Got That Vibe that’s got extra chilli and comes with falafel and tzatziki on the side… hot!
we can’t wait to listen to LUFRKKK’s own work and you’ll be the first to get your hands on it here…
well, look no further coz the guys from SSION are ready to give you that and more…
Street Jizz, as the rest of their work is funny, burlesque and in your face! like sweat and jizz running over your glitter mascara and getting into your eye but giving you a poppers / laughing gas-like rush… bonkers, sweet and ace…
Gothrobot luvs this so much it’s just too difficult to describe… and it does get better when pump-up-the-bass-undaground-electro-hou-se-nsation Norrit adds some unneeded but most welcome filth to the original, turning it into a harlot, a concubine, an every-one-man-in-Sodom-and-Gomorrah choix du jour of a track, bringing bouncy-bouncy-ness to the kinda level of dirrrt we just absolutely luv!
we haven’t been able to get a promo for Norrit’s remix yet but whilst we work on it, here’s an hors d’œuvre, a dirrrty lil whure of a promo mixtape including his Street Jizz bootie and packed with other rough diamonds… get the tracklist here… be ready to hear more about him here coz we think he’s the best thing since the bagless hoover…
